The Magnelab RCT-2400-000 is a flexible CT measuring AC current up to 5,000 Amps and has an 8″ opening.
The flexible CT opens at the connector junction and can be installed on an existing cable or busbar very easily. The RCT-2400-000 is a 24-inch Rogowski coil without an integrator, such that it produces 70mV for every 1000A detected on the primary conductor when operating at 60 Hz. When at 50 Hz the output is 58.33 mV per 1000A.
The output of the RCT-2400-000 will be shifted out of phase 90°, and must be accounted for by the power meter or via a flexible CT integrator. See our RCT-2400-xxx (single phase) and RCS-2400-xxx (3 phase) if you would like an integrator (which will output 333 mV at the rated input amperage). You may also be interested in the new RCT-600T series Rogowski coils, which allow for use in smaller, tighter situations. The RCT-600T is available with or without an integrator.
The RCT-2400-000 flexible CT is UL Recognized (E96927) to IEEE 57.13 and CAN/CSA 60044-1. Regarding safety, the RCT-2400-000 Rogowski coil meets UL STD 61010-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010. The RCT-2400-000 is designed and made in the USA.
If you plan to measure amperages lower than 20A, you can wrap the flexible CT around the primary conductor twice to double the output, effectively allowing you to measure down to 10A with 1% accuracy. Following this principle, you can
buy larger Rogowski coils (such as the RCT-3600-000) to triple-wrap the primary conductor and increase the output even
further (with a corresponding increase the ability to measure low currents). Be aware that the output signal will have its phase shifted by 90 degrees.
