The Magnelab RCT-3600-000 is a flexible current transformer measuring AC current up to 5,000 Amps. It has a 12-inch diameter.
This flexible current transformer opens at the connector junction and can be installed on an existing cable or busbar with ease. The RCT-3600-000 is a 36-inch rope (12″ diameter) without an integrator, such that it produces 70mV for every 1000A detected on the primary conductor, when operating at 60 Hz. When at 50 Hz the output is 58.33 mV per 1000A. The output will be out-of-phase 90 degrees until corrected.
See our RCT-3600-xxx if you would like a Rogowski coil with an integrator (which will output 333 mV at the rated input amperage and will correct the phase shift). The Magnelab series Rogowski coil is available in smaller sizes or it can be custom-made to your size requirements (additional cost).
The RCT-3600-000 flexible current transformer is UL Recognized (E96927) to IEEE 57.13 and CAN/CSA 60044-1. Regarding safety, the RCT-3600-000 meets UL STD 61010-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010. The RCT-3600-000 is designed and made in the USA.
If you plan to measure amperages lower than 20A, you can wrap the flexible current transformer around the primary conductor twice to double the output, effectively allowing you to measure down to 10A with 1% accuracy. Along these lines, you can triple the output by wrapping three times around the center conductor. As noted previously, the output must still be corrected for phase shift.
