AC & DC Power Meters

Aim Dynamics offers a wide variety of power meters to suit your needs. Power meters help you monitor, control and manage your energy usage by collecting precise information. They measure the amount of energy, voltage, and current consumed and communicate the results for review. Different power meters offer different communication protocols to relay information. When you find a meter that suits your needs, pay attention to the signal input it expects and be sure to find a current sensor that corresponds.

Aim Dynamics carries Power Meters from a range of manufacturers including:

Frequently Asked Questions

THere are some of the FAQs we get asked about Power Meters:

Does the meter require an external power supply?

Two types of power meters exist:

1) Those that require auxiliary power for their power supply. This setup is ideal in situations where the power needs to be monitored as an outage occurs, or in situations where the voltage is low. 2) There are meters that power themselves from the same voltage lines they are designed to measure. This is ideal in situations where the power is generally stable, and where significant sags in the voltage supply are not expected (or can be ignored).

There are various power supply options available: the standard power supply option 100-415Vac or 100-300Vdc and the low voltage power supply option (20-60Vdc).

How can I confirm if my home has single-phase or three-phase power?

Single-phase power is used in more than 99% of homes and small businesses. It is more than sufficient to supply the power needed and is adequate for running motors up to 5 horsepower. Three-phase power is more common in large businesses as well as industrial manufacturing around the world. It is also becoming more popular in power-hungry, high-density data centers.

There is no safe way to confirm your power phases without being trained in electrical handling. For this purpose, we recommend everyone who is not certain to contact a local electrician to confirm.
